We will be using this website as well as other communication tools to keep you informed about gatherings, services and eventually an official church launch date.
We are being planted and supported by a church called “Harvest Barrie” in Barrie, ON who has a passion for church planting in Ontario and we are in the process of evaluation with Acts 29 Canada. We are grateful for the support and guidance they are providing us.
If you are a visitor, or just evaluating churches, know that you are welcome whoever you are. We hope you find our website a useful tool to help you figure out what “Sojourn” is all about.
Our Mission
We exist to glorify God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ in a broken world. We do this through the fulfillment of the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment.
Why The Name?
What does “Sojourn” even mean? The word refers to someone who resides temporarily in a place for a time. That’s what a Christian is. The driving verse for comes from 1 Peter 2:9-11:
“9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.”
Our name is meant to be an intentional reminder of what God has done for us through the gospel, who we are as His people and where our true home is. To really know this makes all the difference in the world.
